Hairstyling: An Introduction (SCQF level 4)
This unit introduces learners to practical hairstyling skills and techniques within a salon environment. Learners will gain the knowledge and skills to prepare a practical skills area, themselves and a client following industry standards and adhering to current health and safety requirements.
Blow Drying Techniques (SCQF level 5)
The focus of this Unit is practical. Candidates will gain skills in blow-drying techniques through the use of suitable products, tools and equipment. On completion of the Unit candidates will be able to identify an appropriate style for a client through consultation and using the skills gained produce a finished style. This Unit is suitable for candidates with little or no knowledge within this area of Hairdressing.
Shampooing, Conditioning and Scalp Massage (SCQF level 5)
The aim of this Unit is to provide candidates with the necessary knowledge and to develop the skills that will enable them to recognise and describe the fundamental structure of the hair and skin. On completion of the Unit candidates will be able to select appropriate products and perform shampooing and conditioning services incorporating appropriate massage techniques. This Unit is suitable for candidates who have limited knowledge in Hairdressing. Candidates would normally be following a vocational hairdressing or related programme.
